Michelle Obama Lobs a Hefty Insult at the Millions of Women Who Voted Against Hillary Clinton

Michelle Obama criticized women who did not vote for Hillary Clinton in last year’s presidential election during a talk on Wednesday.

“Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice,” the former first lady told the audience at a conference in Boston, according to Boston.com.

“It doesn’t say as much about Hillary, and everybody’s trying to worry about what it means for Hillary … no, no, no, what does this mean for us, as women?” she said, per the Washington Times.

“That we look at those two candidates, as women, and many of us said, ‘[Donald Trump is] better for me. His voice is more true to me.’ To me that just says, you don’t like your voice. You like the thing you’re told to like.Obama discussed a wide array of subjects, including her husband’s legacy, what her life has been like outside the White House, and the role of women in the workplace.

“We’ve been socialized to sort of sit there and be quiet. We think 12 times before we open our mouths — ‘Well, maybe I’m wrong.’ We think that before I can speak up, it has to be perfect, while the guy is like, ‘Blah, blah, blah’…” she said.

In the 2016 election, women supported Clinton over Trump, 54 percent to 42 percent, according to data published by Pew Research Center shortly after the election. But Trump beat Clinton among white women, 53 percent to 43 percent, based on exit polls cited by FiveThirtyEight.
