MSNBC host Joe Scarborough thought it necessary to make fun of Rep. Trey Gowdy’s looks Wednesday, calling out the South Carolina Republican for his lack of forehead “powder.”
Scarborough made the remark while discussing the testimony of Director of National Intelligence Director Dan Coats and former CIA Director John Brennan before Congress.
“What dots can we connect?” Morning Joe co-host Mike Brzezinski asked Scarborough about the testimony.
Scarborough then put it upon himself to give Gowdy some makeup advice before proceeding to answer Brzezinski’s question.
“First of all,” Scarborough said, laughing. “Trey Gowdy, a couple of pro tips: First of all, can somebody get him so powder? Just a little bit of powder, put it across the top. The shine is unbelievable. And I speak, actually, for America. That’s all people notice, Trey, when you’re on TV.”
“I thought you were talking about me,” Brzezinski said quietly.
“No, no, you — actually, very nice foundation there,” Scarborough replied.
Even though both co-hosts thought the exchange was comical, critics of Scarborough ripped into him for his display of elitism.
Joe Scarborough is so intimidated by Trey Gowdy he had to stoop this low to make a political point. https://t.co/iEP0kkgI2Q

Scarborough has been known to give unwanted aesthetic tips. He once criticized Jeffery Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, for not smiling enough while appearing on his show.
